I'm actually working on starting a home based business in interior design. Although modern design is nice and fun, I'm more partial to homey type designs, not farmhouse but just "warmer". To answer iSolar's question, courses are great and I do recommend them but also to add uniqueness and individuality, studying photographs and pictures are helpful too. Even mix and match!
